PEN PALS: LETTERS ACROSS THE WORLD

Pen Pals

What started as a simple idea, kids writing letters to other kids, has grown into a community of children from all over the world who connect through real mail, real words, and real friendship.

  • Why pen pals

There’s something about holding a letter that a screen can’t replicate. Our kids learn geography by addressing envelopes. They practice writing because someone real is going to read it. They develop patience, waiting for a reply takes weeks, and that’s part of the magic. Most importantly, they learn that the world is full of kids just like them, living lives that are both completely different and surprisingly familiar.

  • How it works

We match families. Kids write to each other, on paper, through the post, the old-fashioned way. They share stories about where they live, what they’re learning, what their world looks like. There’s no schedule or curriculum. Just two kids getting to know each other one letter at a time.

Once a year, everyone comes together on a virtual meet where the kids share what they’ve sent, what they’ve received, and what they’ve learned about each other’s corners of the world.

  • Want to join?

The pen pal program is open to families anywhere in the world. If your child loves the idea of making a friend through the mail, we’d love to hear from you.
